Welcome to another issue of Passionate Income.

In the final installment in our current Three Part Series, we’ll conclude our discussion of how much it costs to start an Internet business.

In our last issue, we covered coaching and freelancing.

Today we'll look at affiliate marketing, Amazon KDP and Faceless IG Pages.

Let’s dive in.

This issue is sponsored by us - Passionate Income!

Want to build a business that doesn’t involve cold outreach, slaving away for clients, or having to import products from China?

With a Faceless Instagram Page, you answer to no one. No clients. No customers. No calls or complaints.

Just create content, sell shout-outs, and bank checks.

I should know: I built a 1M+ follower page that generates $1,000+ per day!

Want to see how I did it?

^ And yes, it's 100% FREE ☝️

#5 - Affiliate Marketing

Tech Stack: $29 - $99+
Advertising: $3,000+
Cost Savings Hacks: Get good at TikTok organic + Video editing
Overall Costs: $$

Affiliate marketing is one of the oldest business models on the Internet.

Similar to drop shipping, affiliate marketing involves helping other companies sell their products (with very little affiliate action happening around services).

Except unlike drop shipping, where you build your own store and drive traffic to it, with affiliate marketing you send traffic to the vendor’s website (at which point they cookie the user and credit you for the sale).

In the old days, when organic traffic was easy, affiliate marketing was a goldmine. Mainly because you could generate 4-7 figures without spending a penny on advertising.

Today, driving organic traffic is exponentially harder and much slower (ignoring exceptions). And because of that, building an affiliate business virtually guarantees you have to run ads. And not just run them, but get really good.

And since most people don’t have the mindset required to run ads, affiliate marketing isn’t nearly as common these days.

Either way, be prepared to spend $100+ per day to get off the ground (unless you’re a TikTok legend and know how to go viral / drive organic traffic w/ease).

#6 - Amazon KDP

Tech Stack: $149 + $0 - $39/mo
Advertising: $300 - $900/mo
Cost Savings Hacks: Edit your own books
Overall Costs: $ - $$

As someone who launched a Kindle book in November, this one niche I’m highly familiar with.

In terms of start-up costs, it really depends on a) what types of books you’re trying to sell, and b) to what degree you create the book yourself.

If you want to sell short or medium content books (coloring books, journaling guides, etc.) there’s software you can buy for $29 - $49 per month to create the entire book. Not to mention outsourcing the cover for $5 - $25 on Fiverr.

If you’re doing long-form books, however, your costs can climb into the thousands if you outsource the writing, editing and cover creation.

I wrote and edited my book, and because of that my only expenses were formatting software (a one-time purchase) and the cover ($160).

With that said, you’ll need to pay for ads if you want to make sales during your launch. And if your launch flops, good luck getting organic traffic.

So in addition to creating the book, be prepared to spend $100 - $600 during the first 14 days after publication (depending on how competitive the niche is).

#7 - Faceless IG Page

Tech Stack: $9 - $49/mo
Advertising: $0
Cost Savings Hacks: Get good at video editing
Overall Costs: $

As you likely know, Passionate Income was founded as a faceless IG page well before we launched this here newsletter.

(If you want to see how I grew a 1M+ follower faceless page, check out my free course using this link.)

On the downside, there’s no denying Instagram is competitive these days. On the positive side, growing a Faceless Page used to involve spending thousands of dollars on “shoutouts.”

Today, however, I don’t recommend my students pay for shoutouts. And because of that, growing a Faceless Page is much cheaper now.

With that said, to compensate for not growing via Shout Outs, you have to create really good content. Which requires its own set of skills, mostly related to video editing and using AI to pump out quote posts, etc.

Either way, if you’re on a tight budget and willing to put in the work, Faceless Pages are much less competitive than most any other model we’ve covered in this three-part series.

Reason being, most people don’t think it’s possible to make decent money with Faceless Pages. And because of that, they don’t even try.

But as someone who earns $1k+ per day from my Page, and has taught dozens of people how to do the same (including helping my students grow some of the biggest Faceless Pages on IG), I can tell you right now it is 100% possible.

Modernize your marketing with AdQuick

AdQuick unlocks the benefits of Out Of Home (OOH) advertising in a way no one else has. Approaching the problem with eyes to performance, created for marketers with the engineering excellence you’ve come to expect for the internet.

Marketers agree OOH is one of the best ways for building brand awareness, reaching new customers, and reinforcing your brand message. It’s just been difficult to scale. But with AdQuick, you can easily plan, deploy and measure campaigns just as easily as digital ads, making them a no-brainer to add to your team’s toolbox.

💡 Takeaway: With the exception of e-commerce, most Internet businesses can be launched for less than $2,500. With that said, you’re more likely to succeed if you’re passionate about the business you’re running. So rather than choosing a model because it’s cheap, choose the one you’ll stick with.

I'll leave you with this quote…

"If you’re starting something on your own, you better have a passion for it, because this is hard work.”
